   Welcome

Dear Friends,

It will be our personal pleasure to welcome you all on 5-6-7 October 2007 for the 31st Ariane Cross. After 25 years of NLR participation in the Ariane Cross, NLR feels privileged to organize this great event for the first time. The Cross will take place in Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands.

History changed on 4 October 1957, with the successful launch of Sputnik I. The world's first artificial satellite was about the size of a basketball. While the Sputnik launch was a single event, it marked the start of the space age. Now, fifty years later, Europe has developed a family of launchers, with the latest Ariane 5 heavy-lift launcher capable to lift a payload of 9,600 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. Prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow!

We have all contributed to the Ariane success story. Combining our strengths to reach the best, or competitive to be the best. The results of our technical expertise, high quality standards, personal commitments and rewarding team-work can be experienced in every day's life, and is still effecting the future.

We are pleased to offer you a great social and sportive event with Ariane Cross 2007, celebrating our achievements of the past, and reaching out to new challenges in the future.

Let's all make this event one of our successes in the history of the Ariane Cross!
